From Airports to Nara

from Kansai Airport (KIX) (recommended)

  1. Kansai airport → Nara : 95 min. (Limousine Bus, 2000 yen)

  2. Kansai airport → Nankai-Namba : ~40 min. (RAPID express Nankai Railway, ~1400 yen)

    Osaka Namba → Kintetsu Nara : ~40 min. (express, Kintetsu Railway, ~600 yen)

from Narita Airport (NRT)

Narita airport → Tokyo : ~1 hour (Narita Express : JR (Japan Railway), ~3000 yen)
Tokyo → Kyoto : ~2.5 hours (Shinkansen, Nozomi super express : JR, ~ 13500 yen)
Kyoto → Nara : 40-50 min. (JR or Kintetsu Railway, ~ 600 yen)

Note: There are two major railway stations, Nara (also known as JR-Nara), and Kintetsu-Nara. ("JR Nara Sta" and "Nara Sta" (for Kintetsu) in the map below). Limousine bus also stops at both stations. There are also a few more hotels near Shin-Omiya Station.

Within Nara: Hotels and the Conference Venue (Nara Prefectural New Public Hall)

  • Please find your hotel in the google map (Hotels provided by Nippon Travel Agency are marked)
  • Conference venue (Nara Prefectural New Public Hall / Ken-Shinkokaido) is within walking distance from two major Nara stations.
  • Buses are also available within Nara city (links below are in Japanese only, but hopefully the maps and tables are still useful):
    • Please be aware that Nov.4(Mon) is holiday in Japan and buses run on holiday time table.
    • Bus route 2 (loop-line), Daibutsuden-Kasugataisha Mae (Kasuga Grand Shrine) (bus-stop 7 in this link), about 200 m from the venue.
      (In the map, 1=20 is JR-Nara station, 3 is Kintetsu-Nara station)

    • Bus route 70,97,98, Ken-Shinkokaido (Nara Prefectural New Public Hall, the venue) (bus-stop 6 in this link).
      Time table is here (about every 20 min).
    • There are a few more (but less frequent) bus lines that also cover the route from stations to the Kasuga Grand Shrine.
    • Bus company personels are usually stationed at the bus stops of JR-/Kintetsu-Nara stations to guide tourists.
